May is one of my favorite months, as we see evidence of God's creative power everywhere around us. That which lay dormant and seemingly dead has now burst into the lush green and vibrant colors of Spring. It is a wonderful reminder of God's transforming power in our lives and in the lives of those trapped in bondage to addiction. It is a privilege to work with families who, in a sense, have been enslaved to their loved one's destructive choices and to see healing and growth as they embrace their true identity in Christ. It is never easy to watch a loved one self-destruct but we are not called to implode with them. Watching the growth within us may be the very catalyst our loved one needs to recognize that the "pigpen" is no place to live and that there is hope for transformation. When we refuse to enable or find our identity as the "fixer," we show our trust in God to work in our loved one's life, no matter what that looks like.
How does a free audio book sound?
Thanks to the generosity of my high school friend Steve Gannett, Set Free: Finding Truth and Hope When a Loved One is Addicted is now available in audio form on Audible, Amazon, and iTunes. Steve did an amazing job narrating and editing the book for audio distribution, something that would have likely cost thousands of dollars otherwise.

I recently had the privilege of teaching two webinars on addiction (links will follow). The first was through Grace Fellowship International, of which LTTL is an associate ministry, and the second was through GFI India. I keep joking that I can claim to be an international speaker now. It was a unique experience to teach and answer questions with people in a time zone 9 1/2 hours ahead. Although we tend to focus on the enormous problem in the US, there is so much need for people around the world to understand addiction and the hope for addiction.
